How the Waitlist Works with Standby

The waitlist and Standby work together to fill seats fairly and efficiently. The waitlist handles seat openings before the meeting starts, and Standby handles seat openings right as the meeting begins. Here’s how the two systems connect.

Timeline: How the Systems Work Together

Before the meeting
  • The waitlist offers seats automatically whenever someone cancels.
  • Members receive a notification and must register/pay to claim the seat.
  • Peer Supporters do not need to take any action.
10 minutes before the meeting
  • Automatic waitlist offering stops.
  • The Standby Room opens.
  • Only members who were already on the waitlist can enter Standby.
  • Members who were not on the waitlist cannot join Standby.
During the Standby window (−10 to +10 minutes)
  • Peer Supporters decide whether seats can be offered.
  • They enter the number of seats to open.
  • Seats are offered automatically to members in the Standby Room, in waitlist order.
  • Each invited member has 2 minutes to accept the seat.
10 minutes after the meeting starts
  • The Standby Room closes
  • No more seats can be offered or accepted.
  • The meeting continues with the registered attendees.
