How to join a chat room

We strongly encourage you to explore our chat rooms as they are a large part of the support we offer at HeyPeers.

Once you have logged in to your HeyPeers account, you will be brought to the Member Dashboard, which gives you a quick overview of your upcoming meetings and organizations you are subscribed. Assuming you have not yet joined a chat room, you will see the button Join New Chat rooms. This will bring you directly to the Chat page.
Alternatively, you can also select Chat from the top menu bar.
You will be brought to the Discover Chat Rooms page. All public chat rooms that are currently open for you to join will be displayed in alphabetical order.

Feel free to browse through the list for the chat room that interests you the most. Select any chat room where you could possibly find community and support. Alternatively, you can use the search function (located at the top of the chat room list) to find a chat room by name or description. The search is helpful if you are looking for certain topics or characteristics of a group, such as "depression" or "women over 50."

Each chat room on this page includes a short description of the chat room's key details. This should help you to identify if it may be of interest to you.

  1. The name of the chat room
  2. A short introduction about the chat room
  3. The name of the chat room moderator
  4. The total number of active members in the chat room
Once you have found a chat room you would like to join or learn more about, click on View Details to continue. You will then be able to view the details of the chat room, like in the image below.

Now that you have found a chat room you would like to join, you will be asked to acknowledge that you have reviewed and will follow our chat room guidelines before you can join. Reviewing our chat room guidelines is mandatory because they are a set of rules and expectations established to ensure respectful, productive, and enjoyable interactions among participants. The inability to follow these guidelines can result in the suspension or removal from HeyPeers.


Once the guidelines have been reviewed, please click on the checkbox beside "I have read and agree to follow the Chat Room Guidelines."

You may then click on the Join Chat Room button to join and enter the chat room.
