How to Start Your HeyPeers Meeting

You can start your HeyPeers meeting directly from your My Meetings page. Before you enter the room, you will see a quick device check that helps you confirm your camera, microphone, and speakers are working correctly. This guide explains how to start your meeting and what to expect on the pre‑meeting screen.

How to Start Your Meeting

Select My Meetings from the top menu bar.

Once on the My Meetings page, you will see your meeting listed first. Click Join.

Confirm or edit the name you would like to display in the meeting. Click Continue to Meeting.

Before you enter the meeting room, you will see a setup screen that helps you confirm your audio and video settings.

You can adjust:

Camera
  • Choose which camera to use if your device has more than one
  • Confirm that your video preview looks correct
  • Turn your camera on or off before entering
Microphone
  • Select your preferred microphone
  • Check the input level to confirm your mic is picking up sound
  • Mute or unmute before joining
Speakers
  • Select your speaker or headset
  • Use the test option to confirm you can hear sound
Other Settings
Depending on your device, you may also see:
  • Background blur or background selection
  • Echo cancellation
These settings help ensure your meeting starts smoothly.

Once your camera, microphone, and speakers are set, select Join.  You will enter the meeting room as the host.

If Something Isn't Working Right

If your camera or microphone is not detected:
  • Make sure your browser has permission to use your camera and microphone
  • Try selecting a different device from the dropdown menus
  • Refresh the page if the device list does not update
  • Close other apps that may be using your camera or microphone

Browser Tips for a Smooth Start

Using a supported browser helps ensure your camera, microphone, and speakers work correctly when you start your meeting.

Recommended Browsers
These browsers provide the most stable meeting experience:

  • Windows: Chrome
  • macOS: Safari or Chrome
  • iPhone/iPad (iOS): Safari
  • Android phones/tablets: Chrome

Other modern browsers may work, but using a recommended browser gives you the most consistent audio and video quality.

Browsers that may cause issues
Some browsers cannot access the camera or microphone reliably or cannot run online meetings at all.

  • Samsung Internet (Android): not compatible with HeyPeers Meetings
  • Chrome on iPad: camera access may not work
  • Firefox on Android: unstable audio/video
  • In‑app browsers inside email or social media apps (AOL, Yahoo Mail, Gmail, Google app, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) cannot run HeyPeers meetings
