Browser permissions for video meetings

To fully participate in HeyPeers video meetings, you’ll need to allow your browser to access your camera and microphone. Most browsers will prompt you automatically the first time you join a meeting.

Here’s how to ensure everything is enabled smoothly:

When you first join a meeting

When entering a HeyPeers video meeting, your browser may display a pop-up asking for permission to use your microphone and camera. Click Allow to grant access—this is necessary for audio and video participation.

If you accidentally blocked permissions, don’t worry—see below for how to update your settings.

Managing permissions by browser

Google Chrome

  1. Click the lock icon in the address bar while on the HeyPeers meeting page.
  2. Choose Site Settings.
  3. Set Camera and Microphone to Allow.
  4. Refresh the page.

Safari (macOS/iOS)

On macOS:
  1. Go to Safari > Settings for This Website while on the meeting page.
  2. Set Camera and Microphone to Allow.

On iOS:
  1. Go to Settings > Safari > Camera/Microphone.
  2. Set both to Allow.

Firefox

  1. Click the camera/microphone icon in the address bar when on the meeting page.
  2. Choose Allow for both.
  3. You may also go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Permissions to manage defaults.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Click the lock icon in the address bar.
  2. Open Permissions for this site.
  3. Set Camera and Microphone to Allow.
  4. Refresh the tab.

Tip: Use only one microphone and camera at a time

Make sure you don’t have other video apps open (like Zoom or Teams) when joining a HeyPeers meeting. They may interfere with your browser’s ability to access your devices.
