How to edit a chat room
You can edit your chat room's name, description, and banner at anytime to keep it fresh and relevant. This can be done on the Edit Chat Room page that is accessible within the chat room.
To get started, open the My Chat page by selecting My Chat on the top menu bar.
The My Chat page will be displayed.
Find the group chat you'd like to update. Select Open Chat to enter the chat room.
You will be brought into your chat room. Locate the 3-dot icon on the top menu bar. Clicking on this opens a dropdown menu. Select Edit.
The Edit Chat Room page is where you can make the desired changes to the chat room's name, description, banner, and visibility setting.
Make your edits directly in the displayed fields.
Name
The name of the chat room. This name will be visible to all members on HeyPeers.The description field allows you to provide a brief but meaningful summary of your chat room. This summary helps potential users quickly understand the purpose and focus of the chat room, such as its topic, intended audience, and overall vibe. A well-crafted description makes your chat room stand out and ensures it attracts the right participants who share similar interests or goals.
Minimum length: 80 characters
Maximum length: 750 characters
An optional graphic or picture displayed on the chat room's details page. It's typically used to represent the chat's purpose, theme, or personality and can include text, graphics, or photos that resonate with the group.
Recommended Size: 1800 x 220 pixels
Size Limit: 5MB
Formats: JPEG, PNG, GIF
Select Private (only invited members can join) or Public (any user can discover and join)
Be sure to click on Update Chat Room to save your edits. Once they have been saved you will be brought back to the chat room.
To view how your new changes appear to members, click on the 3-dot icon again. This time select View Details from the dropdown menu.
The Chat Room Details page will be displayed.
