How to Review Incoming Peer Support Requests
Reviewing incoming Peer Support Requests is the first step in deciding whether you’re the right fit for a member’s needs. This guide walks you through how to read a request, what to look for, and how to determine whether to respond.
Where You’ll See Peer Support Requests
You'll see all open requests on the Peer Support Requests page.
Click on your profile photo or initials circle in the upper right corner of the top menu bar. From the drop-down menu, select Peer Support Requests.

The Peer Support Request page opens. Here you'll be able to see all active requests that match your preferences. You can review details, filter requests, and decide which ones to respond to.

Each request includes a few key pieces of information to help you understand what the member is looking for:
- Subject – A short summary of their topic or concern.
- Description – A brief explanation of what they want support with.
- Preferences – Such as lived experience, identity, or communication style.
- Request type – General, Direct, or Meeting Service.

How to Decide Whether to Respond
Not every request will be the right fit, and that’s okay. Here are a few things to consider:
Alignment with your lived experience
If the member is seeking support in an area you feel comfortable with, that’s a good sign.
Your current capacity
If you’re fully booked or need to pace your workload, it’s perfectly fine to skip a request.
Your availability
If your schedule doesn’t align with the member’s, you may choose not to respond.
Your sense of fit
Sometimes you’ll simply know whether you’re the right person for this member. Trust that instinct.

What Happens If You Don’t Respond
If you choose not to respond to a general request:
- The request stays visible to other Peer Supporters.
- The member may still receive proposals from others.
- There’s no penalty for skipping a request.
What Happens If You Do Respond
If you decide to move forward:
- You’ll submit a proposal with your rate, session length, and availability.
- The member will review it and decide whether to accept.
- If they accept, you’ll coordinate via chat and schedule the meeting.
Tips for Reviewing Requests
- Take your time. There’s no rush to respond immediately.
- Stay within your comfort zone. You’re most effective when you feel grounded.
- Honor your boundaries. Your wellbeing matters.
- Respond only when it feels right. A thoughtful “yes” is better than a pressured one.
Reviewing requests is your chance to understand what a member needs and decide whether you’re the right fit. You’re in full control of when and how you respond, and each request is simply an invitation, not an obligation.
