Removing an attendee

Removing an attendee from a group meeting, chat room, or coaching session should be a rare, last‑resort action. It is reserved for situations where someone is not upholding HeyPeers community expectations despite clear reminders and opportunities to correct the behavior.

Before removing someone, engage directly and respectfully with the participant. Use these escalation steps to maintain fairness and transparency.

First Instance

Offer a gentle reminder about the specific guideline they are expected to follow. Most issues resolve at this stage.

Second Instance

Repeat the reminder and give a clear warning:
“If the behavior continues, you may be removed from the meeting to maintain a safe and respectful space for others.”

Third Instance

If the behavior continues, let the participant know what will happen next:
“You’ve continued to disregard the meeting guidelines, and as a result, I’m removing you from this session.”

How to Remove an Attendee

If you need to remove someone from a HeyPeers meeting, you can do so directly from the Participants panel.

If you don't already have the Participant panel open in your meeting, click People in the bottom toolbar.

This opens the Participant Panel, listing all current attendees.

Find the attendee you need to remove. Click the three‑dot menu next to their name. Choose Remove from call... in the drop-down menu.

A pop-up message is displayed, asking you to confirm the removal of the attendee. Select Remove Participant.

What happens after removal:
The pop-up message (above) says the user can rejoin. However, HeyPeers blocks re‑entry at the platform level. If the removed participant tries to return, they will see the message: “Sorry, you are not allowed to join this meeting.” Removed participants cannot rejoin the meeting, even when the Waiting Room is not activated.
