Managing contacts

Learn how to approve, block, and remove contacts

Connecting individually with Peer Supporters and Group Leaders is a powerful way to build trust and get to know your support team. Your Contacts page helps make those connections easier to manage. Once a “connect” request is accepted, you’ll be able to message your contact directly.

On the Contacts page, you can:

  • View and message approved contacts
  • Remove or block contacts
  • Approve or decline connection requests
  • Unblock previously blocked contacts
  • Check the status of connection requests you've sent
  • Remove your pending requests that haven’t been accepted
Although you can’t add contacts directly from this page, managing existing connections is simple and helps keep your contacts organized.

For instructions on how to connect with Peer Supporters and group leaders, please see:

To access your Contacts page, select More from the top menu bar, then choose Contacts from the dropdown menu.

The Contacts page will be displayed.

You’ll see four tabs across the top that organize your connections:

Active: Contacts you've successfully connected with; these are individuals you can message directly

Pending: Connection requests sent to you that are waiting for your approval

Blocked: Contacts you’ve blocked from communicating with you

Sent Requests: Connection requests you’ve sent that have not yet been accepted

Managing your active (approved) contacts

Select the Active tab to show contacts you've successfully connected with.

To send a contact a message, locate the contact in the list of active contacts, then select Message.

To remove a contact, locate the contact in the list of active contacts, then select Remove. Removing a contact simply removes the name from your contact list. It does not prevent the person from attempting to connect with you in the future.

To block a contact, locate the name in the active contacts list and select Block. Once blocked, the person will no longer be able to message you or send connection requests.

Connection requests waiting for your approval

Peer Supporters and group leaders must receive your approval before they can message you. Their connection requests appear under the Pending tab where they’ll remain until you approve or decline them.

To approve a connection request, select Approve. After approval, both you and the other person can exchange messages.

To decline a connection request, select Decline. This prevents the person from messaging you, but they may still send future connection requests.

Blocking and unblocking people

The blocking functionality allows you to cut off communication from an individual and prevents the person from attempting to request new connection requests.

You may only block someone who is already on your Active (approved) contacts list. To do so, first go the Active tab.

Locate the person's name in the list, then select Block.

Note: To block someone who is not yet on your Active list, they must first send you a connection request. Once they appear under the Pending tab, you must approve the request, then immediately block the user.

Blocked individuals appear under the Blocked tab.

To remove someone from your blocked list, simply click on Unblock beside the user's name. Once unblocked, the person is reinstated to your active contacts list and may resume messaging you.

Your sent connection requests

Sent Requests shows the connection requests you’ve sent that haven’t been accepted yet. It’s a convenient way to keep track of who you’ve reached out to.

If you change your mind about a request, you can easily cancel it; just click Cancel next to the one you want to remove.
