How to submit a peer support request

The peer support request functionality page makes it easy to connect with someone who truly understands. Our certified Peer Supporters bring lived experience, compassionate listening, and thoughtful guidance to every one-on-one session.


Just tell us what you're looking for and any preferences you may have—like meeting time, focus area, or shared life experience. You’ll receive up to three personalized proposals from Peer Supporters who are a good match for your needs. Each supporter will share how they can help, when they’re available, and their proposed session rate. Sessions are thoughtfully priced—based on each Peer Supporter’s background, experience, and the kind of support they offer.


You choose the Peer Supporter who feels right for you, then schedule a session that works for both of you. It’s your journey—and we’re here to support every step. 


Here’s how it works:

Step 1: Submit your request

From the top menu bar, click More, then My Peer Support Requests.

This brings you to the My Peer Support Requests page. Click Request Peer Support.

This brings up a short form where you tell us what kind of support you’re looking for.

Fill in the form details:

  • Subject: Give your request a short, clear title
  • Description: Share what you’d like support with (the more detail, the better)
  • Availability: Let us know when you’re generally free over the next 3 days
  • Lived Experience: What kind of experience would you like your peer supporter to have?
  • Preferred Gender (Optional): Choose the gender you would feel most comfortable with.

Click Submit to send your request. 

Step 2: Review support proposals

Once your request is submitted, it will be shared privately with certified Peer Supporters who are a good match for your needs.


You’ll receive up to three personalized proposals, each thoughtfully crafted to include:

  • How the Peer Supporter can help
    They’ll share how their background and experience align with your request.
  • When they’re available
    You’ll see their proposed date and time options, based on your availability.
  • Their session rate
    Each supporter sets their own fee, starting at just $20.

You’ll be notified by email as soon as a Peer Supporter responds. Look for a message from HeyPeers with the subject line: “New Peer Support Proposal for your request.” This email will include the key details of their proposal so you can review and decide what feels right.


You can also monitor the status of your request any time by visiting your Member Dashboard page. Click on View Request to open the details of your request and to view the proposals.

Proposals will be displayed below your request. Click View Proposal to view the details of each proposal.

Feel free to connect with the Peer Supporter via the chat section if you have any questions or need clarification. It's a great way to get to know the Peer Supporter better before you accept the proposal.

Step 3: Choose the Peer Supporter

Once you’ve reviewed your proposals, it’s time to choose the Peer Supporter you’d like to work with.  


When you’re ready, click Accept Proposal on your preferred proposal. This tells the Peer Supporter you're ready to move forward and opens the door to scheduling your meeting. 

Step 4: Agree to a date and time

Once you’ve accepted a proposal, you and your Peer Supporter can coordinate to find a meeting time that works best for both of you.


Use the chat section of your request to share availability and finalize the date and time.


Tip: Let your Peer Supporter know what time zone you're in to avoid any confusion when scheduling.

Step 5: Register and pay for your meeting

After your meeting time is confirmed, your Peer Supporter will schedule the session. You’ll then see a Register button appear on your request.


Click Register to confirm your spot and complete your payment.


Note: Your meeting won’t appear on the public calendar. It remains confidential between you and your Peer Supporter, so registration must be completed through your request.

Choose your payment method (add a new card or use one on file), then click Pay Now to reserve your session.

Once payment is complete, you’re all set! The meeting will appear on your My Meetings page, and you’ll receive reminders to help you stay on track.


You're now ready for your personalized one-on-one support session!
