One-on-one sessions with an independent Peer Supporter

Independent Peer Supporters are experienced individuals on HeyPeers who offer personal support outside of organizational programs. They come from diverse backgrounds and use their lived experience to support others in meaningful, confidential sessions. For more details, see What is an independent Peer Supporter.

What are one-on-one sessions?

One-on-one sessions are private, personalized video meetings between you and a trained, certified Peer Supporter. These sessions offer a safe space to talk through challenges, share your experiences, or simply connect with someone who understands—on your terms and at your pace.

You can choose who you’d like to meet with, coordinate the time that works best for both of you, and receive support that’s compassionate, confidential, and tailored to your needs.

All one-on-one sessions are private and confidential. They won’t appear on the public calendar, and only you and your Peer Supporter will have access to meeting details.

How to find a Peer Supporter

You can explore independent Peer Supporters by visiting the Peer Supporters page. Use filters to search by topic, experience, or availability. You can browse each Peer Supporter’s photo and bio, explore the services they offer, see the topics they have lived experience with, and view community ratings—all in one place.

How to book a session with a Peer Supporter

Once you’ve found a Peer Supporter you’d like to meet with, click Request Peer Support on their profile to get started.

This launches the peer support request functionality. A short form will be displayed—use it to tell the peer supporter what kind of support you’re looking for.

Fill in the form details:

  • Subject: Give your request a short, clear title
  • Description: Share what you’d like support with (the more detail, the better)
  • Availability: Let us know when you’re generally free over the next 3 days
  • Lived Experience: What kind of experience would you like your peer supporter to have?

Click Submit to send your request to the peer supporter.

You’ll be notified by email as soon as the Peer Supporter responds. Look for a message from HeyPeers with the subject line: “New Peer Support Proposal for your request.” This email will include the key details of their proposal.

You can also monitor the status of your request anytime by visiting your Member Dashboard page. Click on View Request to open the details of your request and to view the proposal.

The proposal will be displayed below your request. Click View Proposal.

Feel free to connect with the Peer Supporter via the chat section if you have any questions or need clarification. It's a great way to get to know the peer supporter better before you accept the proposal.

Click Accept Proposal. This tells the Peer Supporter you're ready to move forward and opens the door to scheduling your meeting.

Once you’ve accepted the proposal, you and your Peer Supporter can coordinate to find a meeting time that works best for both of you.

Use the chat section of your request to share availability and finalize the date and time.

Tip: Let your Peer Supporter know what time zone you're in to avoid any confusion when scheduling.

After your meeting time is confirmed, your Peer Supporter will schedule the session. You’ll then see a Register button appear on your request.

Click Register to confirm your spot and complete your payment.

Note: Your meeting won’t appear on the public calendar. It remains confidential between you and your Peer Supporter, so registration must be completed through your request.

Choose your payment method (add a new card or use one on file), then click Pay Now to reserve your session.
Once payment is complete, you’re all set! The meeting will appear on your My Meetings page, and you’ll receive reminders to help you stay on track.
